5-389.9e:

Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Other surgical closure of blood vessels: Gastric vein

You have had a vein of your stomach sealed.

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart.

The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.

To seal a blood vessel, it can be clipped or ligated, for example. Blood is then no longer able to flow through the vessel or out of the vessel.
