5-38a.90:
Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Endovascular implantation of prosthetic stents: Vena cava: Stent prosthesis with no valve function
One or more synthetic stents were implanted into your vena cava.
The venae cavae are large blood vessels. They collect oxygen-poor blood from the body and carry it back to the heart. There is a superior and inferior vena cava.
To implant a stent, a tube is used to push it, folded up, through the blood vessels. The stent is then unfolded in the correction location.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
