Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Patch plasty for blood vessels: Gastric artery
You have had an artery of your stomach enlarged using other tissue.
Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
A vascular patch can be used to enlarge an artery. This vascular patch can be made of synthetic material or the body’s own tissue.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
