Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Patch plasty for blood vessels: Portal vein
You have had your portal vein enlarged using other tissue.
The portal vein transports nutrient-rich blood from the gastrointestinal area to the liver. The liver is an important organ on the top right of the abdomen. For example, it helps with blood clotting and detoxifying the body. Nutrients from food are processed in the liver.
A vascular patch can be used to enlarge a vein. This vascular patch can be made of synthetic material or the body’s own tissue.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

- R: Right
- B: Both sides
