Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Other blood vessel operations: Aortopexy
Your aorta has been surgically fixed to your chest from inside.
The aorta begins at the heart itself. First it runs upwards and then it arches down through the chest to the abdomen. At around the level of the navel, the aorta branches into 2 large blood vessels. These blood vessels first run to the pelvis and then to the legs.
In the chest, the aorta is immediately in front of the trachea. With some conditions, the aorta can compress the trachea. The aorta can then be surgically pulled forward and attached to the inside of the chest. Some threads are usually used to attach the aorta to the chest.
