Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Other blood vessel operations: Venous valve plasty

You have had an operation on one or more venous valves.

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart. There are so-called venous valves in the veins in the leg. The venous valves ensure that the blood can only flow in one direction. The blood is thus transported back to the heart. With different conditions or changes, the venous valves stop sealing properly. The blood in the veins can then back up.

To operate on venous veins, an incision is first made in the skin. The affected vein is exposed. The venous valve is then treated so that it seals properly once more.
