Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Other blood vessel operations: Delay operation before autogenous breast reconstruction
You have been prepared for the reconstruction of your breast.
The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. When a breast is removed, it can be surgically reconstructed in some cases. To do this, a piece of skin with muscle and fatty tissue from the abdomen is usually used. During the operation, some of the tissue from the abdomen is usually cut away and moved to the chest.
Before this type of breast reconstruction, a preparatory operation may be carried out. During this operation the tissue is prepared for the move. To do this, either some of it is cut out or some blood vessels in this tissue are severed. The aim of the preparatory operation is to ensure that the tissue has a good blood supply even after it is moved.
