Other operations on blood vessels and additional information about operations on blood vessels: Other blood vessel operations: Electrochemotherapy for vascular malformation
You have had treatment on one or more vascular malformations.
As a result you had one or more vascular malformations permanently sealed.
A drug was given for this which can kill off somatic cells. A small amount of the drug was injected into a blood vessel or straight into the treated site. Needles were also guided to the treated site. To position the needles at the right site, ultrasound or X-rays can be used, for example. An electrical current was then sent through the needles. The drug was better able to penetrate into the somatic cells which the electrical current reached. As a result these cells were killed so that the vascular malformation could be treated.
