5-408.5:
Operations on lymph tissue: Other surgery on the lymph vessel system: Destruction of diseased lymph nodes by thermoablation, percutaneous
You have had surgical treatment for one or more diseased lymph nodes.
The lymph nodes are small bean-shaped objects. They are found throughout the body. Lymph nodes filter the tissue fluid. They are part of the defense system.
To do the treatment, one or more probes are usually pushed through the skin to the lymph nodes concerned. The probes are then heated. This is usually done electrically. The heat destroys the tissue in the lymph node.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
