An incision has been made in the muscle layer of your oesophagus.

The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach. The inside of the oesophagus is lined with mucous membrane. There is a layer of muscle around this.

The aim of the incision is to enlarge your oesophagus.

An incision was made in your chest in order to operate on your oesophagus.
