Operations on the oesophagus: Oesophagostomy as standalone intervention: Cervical (salivary fistula)
An artificial connection to your oesophagus has been made via an incision in your skin.
The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach.
Your oesophagus now has an opening through your skin to outside in your neck. This artificial opening is called a salivary fistula.
