Operations on the oesophagus: Local excision and destruction of diseased oesophagus tissue: Destruction, thoracoscopic: Laser coagulation
Pathologically changed tissue has been removed from your oesophagus.
The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach.
You have had a thoracoscopy involving an operation on your oesophagus. A bronchoscopy first involves making a small incision in the skin. A tube with a camera is pushed through this incision. This camera sends pictures of the inside of the body to a screen. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be inserted through other small incisions in the chest.
The tissue in your oesophagus has been destroyed using a laser.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
