A narrowing of your oesophagus at the junction with your stomach has been widened.

The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach.

The treatment involved pushing a tube through your mouth to your oesophagus. A camera was attached to the end of the tube. This camera sent pictures to a screen. The tube can be used to push a balloon through to the area affected and deploy it there. In this way the bottleneck can be widened.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
