The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach. Treatments of the esophagus can involve the use of tubes or stents. These can hold the esophagus open if a disorder has caused it to become constricted. This type of stent is made of a metal mesh, for example.
