Incision, excision and resection of stomach: Gastrostomy: Percutaneous endoscopic (PEG): By thread pulling method
You have had an artificial gastric opening made via an incision in your abdominal skin. A feeding tube was inserted through this opening.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
Food and drink can be taken through a feeding tube. A tube like this is inserted through an artificial opening in the stomach.
To create the artificial opening, a tube with a camera was first inserted through your oesophagus to your stomach. The feeding tube could then be inserted via an incision in your abdominal skin.
