Incision, excision and resection of stomach: Gastrostomy: Release and removal of a buried PEG bumper: Other

The inner bumper of your feeding tube had become buried in your stomach. The bumper has been released.

The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.

Food and drink can be taken through a feeding tube. A tube like this is inserted through an artificial opening in the stomach.

A feeding tube is attached using an inner and outer synthetic bumper. The inner bumper sits in the stomach. In your case this bumper had become buried in your stomach wall, and now it has been released.
