Other operations on the stomach: Gastroenterostomy without gastric resection [bypass procedure]: Inspection: Open surgical
In the past, a new connection was made between your stomach and your small intestine. You have now had another operation at this site.
The stomach is located in the upper abdomen. The stomach has a curved shape, and is connected to the gullet (oesophagus) at its upper end and with the first part of the small intestine at its lower end. Between the stomach and the small intestine is a ring-shaped valve, the pylorus. The inside of the stomach is lined with mucous membrane.
To create a new connection between the stomach and the small intestine, the stomach and the small intestine are both first cut open somewhere. The open sites are then stitched to one another. You have now had another operation on this junction.
The operation involved opening your abdomen via an incision in your skin.
