Other operations on the stomach: Other stomach reconstruction: Gastropexy: Other

You have had an operation on your stomach. The operation involved fixing your stomach using sutures in your abdomen.

The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.

The stomach normally lies below the diaphragm in the abdomen. Your stomach has been stitched to your diaphragm or to the wall of your abdomen. This has stabilized your stomach in your abdomen. The aim of this type of operation is to prevent parts of the stomach from moving upwards through the diaphragm into the chest cavity.
