Other operations on the stomach: Other operations on the stomach: Closure of a gastrointestinal fistula: Open surgical
You have had a pathological fistula between your large intestine (colon) and your stomach closed.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines. In the colon, water and salts are taken from the bolus. The stool is then excreted via the rectum.
An operation involved opening your abdomen via an incision.
The fistula between your large intestine and your stomach was then closed.
