Other operations on small and large intestine: Additional information about intestinal surgery: Endoscopic by push-and-pull-back technique

You had treatment on your intestine.

The intestines are made up of the small intestine and the large intestine or colon. Most of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. The large intestine is where water and minerals are taken from the stool. The last segment of the large intestine (colon) is the rectum. Stool then leaves the body through the anus.

To treat the intestine, a tube is inserted via the anus or the mouth. This depends on which part of the intestine is being treated.

There are usually two balloons attached to the special tube, which are alternately inflated and deflated. In this way the tube is gradually pushed forward through the small intestine. Images from the examined area can be transmitted to the outside via the tube. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.
