Other operations on small and large intestine: Additional information about intestinal surgery: Endoscopic by push-and-pull-back technique
You had treatment on your intestine.
The intestines are made up of the small intestine and the large intestine or colon. Most of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. The large intestine (colon) is where water and salt are withdrawn from the stool. The last segment of the large intestine (colon) is the rectum. Stool then leaves the body through the anus.
You have had your small intestine examined using a special tube. Attached to this type of tube are usually two balloons that are alternately inflated and deflated. In this way the tube is gradually pushed forward through the small intestine. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera then sends images to a screen during the examination. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed.
