Your ureter has been surgically opened.

The ureter is a thin, muscular tube in the abdomen. There is usually one ureter on each side. The urine flows from the kidney, via the ureter, to the bladder.

The operation involved making one or more large incisions in the skin on your abdomen, back or sides. These incisions enabled your ureter to be operated on directly.

In such an operation urinary stones can be removed, for example.
