Operations on the ureter: Ureterotomy, percutaneous transrenal and transurethral stone treatment: Ureterotomy, laparoscopic or retroperitoneoscopic

Your ureter has been surgically opened.

The ureter is a thin, muscular tube in the abdomen. There is usually one ureter on each side. The urine flows from the kidney, via the ureter, to the bladder.

The operation involved making small incisions in the skin on your abdomen, back or sides. Instruments and a camera could be pushed into the abdominal cavity through these incisions. With these devices your ureter could be operated on.

In such an operation urinary stones can be removed, for example.
