Operations on other bones: Incision in bone, septic and aseptic: Sequesterotomy: Scapula

You have had an operation on your shoulder blade.

The shoulder blade is a flat bone that lies to the back of your upper chest. There is a right and left shoulder blade. As part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blade connects the upper body to the arm. The shoulder blade is involved in many movements in the shoulder area.

This intervention involved making one or more incisions in your skin.

A piece of bone that had died off was then removed from your shoulder blade.

Damaged tissue or dirt can also be removed during this type of intervention.
