Operations on other bones: Incision in bone, septic and aseptic: Sequesterotomy with insertion of a drug delivery system: Phalanges of the hand

You have had an operation on one or more of your finger bones.

The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. Immediately after the forearm is the carpus. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The thumb consists of 2 finger bones. The other fingers consist of 3 finger bones.

This intervention involved making one or more incisions in your skin.

A piece of bone that had died off was then removed from your finger bones.

A drug delivery device was also inserted into your finger bones. A drug delivery system is a particular material that contains medication. The drug delivery system usually releases the medication to the surrounding tissue over a long period of time.

Damaged tissue or dirt can also be removed during this type of intervention.
