You have had an operation on your kneecap.

The kneecap sits at the front of the knee. It protects the knee joint. It is also important for knee movement. When you bend and straighten the knee, the kneecap slides along the femur. Tough tissue connects the kneecap to the muscle at the front of the thigh and to the shinbone.

This intervention involved making one or more incisions in your skin.

A piece of bone that had died off was then removed from your kneecap.

A drug delivery device was also inserted into your kneecap. A drug delivery system is a particular material that contains medication. The drug delivery system usually releases the medication to the surrounding tissue over a long period of time.

Damaged tissue or dirt can also be removed during this type of intervention.
