Operations on other bones: Incision in bone, septic and aseptic: Sequesterotomy with insertion of a drug delivery system: Proximal fibula
You had an operation on the upper part of your fibula.
There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section.
This intervention involved making one or more incisions in your skin.
A piece of bone that had died off was then removed from your fibula.
A drug delivery device was also inserted into your fibula. A drug delivery system is a particular material that contains medication. The drug delivery system usually releases the medication to the surrounding tissue over a long period of time.
Damaged tissue or dirt can also be removed during this type of intervention.
