Operations on other bones: Incision in bone, septic and aseptic: Sequesterotomy with insertion of a drug delivery system: Tarsals
You have had an operation on one or more of your tarsal bones.
The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes. The tarsus consists of 7 tarsal bones. The tarsal bones form the rear part of the foot.
This intervention involved making one or more incisions in your skin.
A piece of bone that had died off was then removed from your tarsal bones.
A drug delivery device was also inserted into your tarsal bones. A drug delivery system is a particular material that contains medication. The drug delivery system usually releases the medication to the surrounding tissue over a long period of time.
Damaged tissue or dirt can also be removed during this type of intervention.
