OPS-Code 5-782.3b:
Operations on other bones: Excision and resection of diseased bone tissue: Partial resection with continuity severance and with soft tissue resection: Metacarpals
You have had altered bone tissue removed from one or more of your metacarpal bones.
The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The hand can be divided into 3 sections. The wrist (carpus) is directly connected to the forearm. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. There is one metacarpal bone for each finger.
There are various soft tissues around the metacarpal bones. Soft tissue includes muscles, fatty tissue and connective tissue, for example. In addition to the altered bone tissue, you also had soft tissue from the area surrounding the metacarpal bones removed. The operation involved cutting right through the metacarpal bones.
