OPS-Code 5-783.7b:

Operations on other bones: Extraction of a bone graft: Bone graft, vascular pedicled, non microvascular anastomized: Metacarpals

You have had bone material surgically removed from your metacarpal bones so that it can be used somewhere else.

The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The hand can be divided into 3 sections. The wrist (carpus) is directly connected to the forearm. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. There is one metacarpal bone for each finger.

Blood vessels supply the bones in the hand with oxygen and nutrients, among other things. A special technique was used to remove the bone material. The bone material remains connected with the original site by means of a blood vessel. The blood vessel was not severed. As a result, the bone material can continue to be supplied with blood. This should help the bone material to fuse with other bone material at the new site.
