OPS-Code 5-783.7e:

Operations on other bones: Extraction of a bone graft: Bone graft, vascular pedicled, non microvascular anastomized: Neck of femur

You have had bone material surgically removed from your femur so that it can be used somewhere else.

The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The upper section of the femur is connected to the pelvic bones by the hip joint. The upper section includes the neck and head of the femur plus 2 bony protrusions. The bony protrusions lie between the neck of the femur and its central section. The neck of the femur is set at an angle to the central section.

Bone material has been removed from the femoral neck of your femur.

Blood vessels supply the femur with oxygen and nutrients, among other things. A special technique was used to remove the bone material. The bone material remains connected with the original site by means of a blood vessel. The blood vessel was not severed. As a result, the bone material can continue to be supplied with blood. This should help the bone material to fuse with other bone material at the new site.
