OPS-Code 5-783.7r:

Operations on other bones: Extraction of a bone graft: Bone graft, vascular pedicled, non microvascular anastomized: Distal fibula

You have had bone material surgically removed from your fibula so that it can be used somewhere else.

There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. At their lower ends the tibia and fibula form the malleolus bones in the ankle. At the top of the ankle the lower ends of the tibia and fibula are connected to a bone at the back of the foot.

Bone material has been removed from the lower end of your fibula.

Blood vessels supply the fibula with oxygen and nutrients, among other things. When removing the bone material, it remains connected with the original site by means of a blood vessel. The blood vessel was not severed. As a result, the bone material can continue to be supplied with blood. This should help the bone material to fuse with other bone material at the new site.
