5-787.c9:

Operations on other bones: Removal of osteosynthesis material: Transfixation nail: Distal ulna

Aids have been removed from your ulna.

To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example.

There are 2 bones in the forearm, the ulna and the radius. The ulna is on the side where your little finger is. The radius is on the side where your thumb is. Both bones in the forearm have an upper, middle and lower section. The lower ends of the ulna and the radius are connected to the hand by the wrist.

Long pins have been removed from the lower section of your ulna. Long pins like these are used to stabilize the ulna from within. The long nails are inserted through bones and join these bones together. Joints, for example, can be temporarily reinforced like this.
