Operations on other bones: Removal of osteosynthesis material: Transfixation nail: Proximal tibia
Aids have been removed from your tibia.
There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. The top end of the tibia is connected to the femur by the knee joint. The top ends of the tibia and fibula are also connected by a joint just below the knee joint.
To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example.
Long pins have been removed from the upper section of your tibia. Long pins like these are used to stabilize the tibia from within. The long nails are inserted through bones and join these bones together. Joints, for example, can be temporarily reinforced like this.
