Operations on other bones: Removal of osteosynthesis material: Ring fixator: Proximal tibia

Aids have been removed from your tibia.

There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. The top end of the tibia is connected to the femur by the knee joint. The top ends of the tibia and fibula are also connected by a joint just below the knee joint.

To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example.

A special fixation system has been removed from the upper section of your tibia. A fixation system like this is used, for example, to stabilize broken bones. The fixation system for the tibia consisted of some rings and pins that were external to the leg.
