OPS-Code 5-789.02:

Operations on other bones: Other operations on the bone: Suture of periosteum: Shaft of humerus

The periosteum was sutured during an operation on the middle section of your humerus.

There are different parts to the humerus. The top end is connected to the shoulder blade in the shoulder joint. In the middle of the humerus there is a long, straight section. The lower end is connected to the forearm in the elbow joint.

The periosteum is a thin layer that almost completely envelops the bones. The periosteum has numerous functions, including supplying the bones with nutrients. There are also nerves within it, making it highly sensitive to pain.
