OPS-Code 5-789.0v:
Operations on other bones: Other operations on the bone: Suture of periosteum: Metatarsals
The periosteum of metatarsal bones in your foot were sutured during an operation.
The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes. The metatarsus consists of 5 elongated metatarsal bones.
The periosteum is a thin layer that almost completely envelops the bones. The periosteum has numerous functions, including supplying the bones with nutrients. There are also nerves within it, making it highly sensitive to pain.
