The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The lower section of the femur is connected to the lower leg bones by the knee joint.
The lower section of your femur has been stabilized with a long pin inside the bone.
The purpose of the long pin is to stabilize the femur from within. To do this, the pin is inserted into the bone.
