Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Closed repositioning of a fracture or epiphyseal separation with osteosynthesis: By inter-locking nail: Shaft of fibula
The long, straight section of your fibula was broken and it has been surgically stabilized.
There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section.
The mid-section of your fibula was broken. First of all, the fragments of your fibula were surgically put back in their normal place and joined together.
A long pin was inserted into the bone to hold together and stabilize the affected site.
The purpose of the long pin is to stabilize the fibula from within. To do this, the pin is inserted into the bone. The long pin may also be screwed to the bone at its ends.
