Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a multiple fragment fracture in the shaft area of a long bone: By inter-locking nail: Shaft of femur

You have broken your femur (thighbone) and had an operation on it.

The femur has an upper, middle and lower section. The central section of the femur is long and straight. You have broken the long, straight section of your femur. The break consists of multiple broken parts.

You had an operation to bring the broken parts of your femur back together and put them into their normal position. The break was stabilized using long nails.

The purpose of the nails is to stabilize the bone from inside. To achieve this, they are inserted into the space inside the bone. At their ends, the long nails can be screwed to the bone.
