Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a multiple fragment fracture in the joint area of a long bone: By fixed angle plate/condylar plate: Proximal tibia
You broke your tibia and had an operation on it.
There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. The top end of the tibia is connected to the femur by the knee joint. The top ends of the tibia and fibula are also connected by a joint just below the knee joint.
The top end of your tibia is broken in more than one place.
You had an operation to bring the broken parts of your tibia back together and put them into their normal position. The break was stabilized using one or more plates.
The plate is angled or curved. One part sits on the long, straight section of the lower leg bone. The other part is angled or curved so that it can match the shape of the lower leg bone properly.
