Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a simple fracture in small bones: By external fixator with internal osteosynthesis: Clavicle

Your collarbone (clavicle) was broken and was surgically stabilized using devices.

The collarbone (clavicle) is a bone at the front of the ribcage. It runs from the ribcage to the shoulder and joins the shoulder blade at the shoulder.

You had an operation to have the fragments of your collarbone (clavicle) returned to their normal position and put back together. Your collarbone (clavicle) was then stabilized using a special fixation system and other special devices. To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example.

The special fixation system involves inserting metal pins or screws through the skin from outside and into the collarbone. These are then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
