Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a simple fracture in small bones: By dynamic fixator: Metacarpals
One or more of your metacarpal bones were broken and were surgically stabilized using devices.
The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The hand can be divided into 3 sections. The wrist (carpus) is directly connected to the forearm. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. There is one metacarpal bone for each finger.
You had an operation to first return the fragments of the affected bones to their normal position and put them back together.
The metacarpal bone fragments concerned were put back in their normal place, and a special fixation system was used to join and stabilize them for you. The special fixation system involves inserting metal pins or screws through the skin from outside and into the bone. These are then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system. The holding system is designed to be mobile. This enables the hand to be moved.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
