5-796.2b:

Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a multiple fragment fracture in small bones: By plate: Metacarpals

You have had an operation on one or more broken bones in your hand.

The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. Immediately after the forearm is the carpus. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The metacarpus forms the palm of the hand and the back of the hand. It consists of the longish metacarpal bones. There is one metacarpal bone for each finger.

You broke one or more metacarpal bones in more than one place. You had an operation to bring the broken parts back together and put them into their normal position. The broken parts were stabilized using one or more plates.
