OPS-Code 5-796.3c:
Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a multiple fragment fracture in small bones: By external fixator: Phalanges of the hand
One or more of the phalanges of your hand were broken and were surgically stabilized using devices.
The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The hand can be divided into 3 sections. The wrist (carpus) is directly connected to the forearm. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The thumb consists of 2 finger bones. The other fingers consist of 3 finger bones.
When the affected phalanges of the hand were broken, several fragments were created.
You had an operation to have the fragments returned to their normal position and put back together.
In an operation, the affected bones in your fingers were returned to their normal position, and a special fixation system was used to put them back together and stabilize them. The special fixation system involves inserting metal pins or screws through the skin from outside and into the bone. These are then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
