You have had an operation on one or more broken bones in your foot.
The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes. The metatarsus consists of 5 elongated metatarsal bones.
You broke one or more metatarsal bones in more than one place. You had an operation to bring the broken parts back together and put them into their normal position. The fragments were then joined stabilized using one or more plates.
