OPS-Code 5-79a.65:

Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Closed repositioning of a joint luxation with osteosynthesis: By external fixator: Proximal radioulnar joint

The joint between your ulna and your radius was realigned and stabilized at your elbow using devices.

3 bones meet at the elbow. These are the humerus and the two bones in the forearm. The forearm bones are called the ulna and the radius. The ulna and radius are each connected to the humerus via their own joint. This helps a person to bend and stretch their arm. A third joint in the elbow connects the ulna with the radius. This allows a person to rotate the forearm inwards and outwards. This movement is needed, for example, when screwing in a light bulb.

The bones of the joint between your ulna and your radius were first returned to their correct position. The joint between your ulna and your radius was then stabilized using a special fixation system.

The special fixation system involves inserting metal rods or screws through the skin from outside and into the bones concerned. These are then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
