OPS-Code 5-79a.72:

Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Closed repositioning of a joint luxation with osteosynthesis: By external fixator with internal osteosynthesis: Scapulothoracic joint (space)

Your shoulder blade was placed back against the ribcage and stabilized using aids.

The shoulder blade is a flat bone. It is in the upper part of the back, to the right and left of the spine. As part of the shoulder joint, the shoulder blade connects the upper body to the arm. The shoulder blade is involved in many movements in the shoulder area. The shoulder blade is connected to the ribs in the ribcage via muscles and connective tissue.

The joint between your ribcage and your shoulder blade was stabilized using a special fixation system and other special aids.

To stabilize bones or parts of bones, various aids can be used. They can be made of metal or plastic, for example. The special fixation system involves inserting metal rods or screws through the skin from outside and into the bones concerned. These are then joined to one another outside the body using a holding system.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
