OPS-Code 5-79a.g7:

Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Closed repositioning of a joint luxation with osteosynthesis: By intramedullary wire: Wrist, unspecified

Your wrist has been realigned and stabilized using devices.

The wrist is made up of several small joints. At the wrist, the forearm bones, the ulna and radius, articulate with several bones of the hand. The ulna and radius are each connected to the hand via their own joint. There is also another joint between the ends of the ulna and the radius.

The bones of the affected joints were first returned to their correct position. The joints were then stabilized inside the bone using pins or wires.

The purpose of the pins or wires is to stabilize the joint from within. To achieve this, they are inserted into the interior of the bone.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
