Repositioning of fracture and luxation: Open repositioning of a joint luxation: Without osteosynthesis: Hip joint

You have had an operation to put your hip joint back in place.

The two hip joints connect the pelvis to the thighbones (femurs). At each side of the pelvic bone there is a depression. This depression is also called the hip socket. The femoral head sits in the hip socket. The femoral head is the rounded, top end of the femur.

You had a dislocated hip joint. When the hip joint is dislocated, the femoral head no longer lies properly in the hip socket. You had an operation which put your femoral head back in its usual place.

Additional indicator
