Open surgical and other joint operations: Open surgical operation on a joint: Synovialectomy, total: Humeroulnar joint
An operation on the joint between your upper arm and your ulna has involved removing its synovial membrane.
The joint between the upper arm and the ulna is part of the elbow joint.
Joints are encased in a joint capsule. The synovial membrane lines the inside of the joint capsule. The synovial membrane produces the synovial fluid. This synovial fluid helps the surfaces of the joint to glide past each other. The synovial fluid also nourishes the cartilage that lines the joint surfaces of bones.
The operation involved opening the joint concerned via an incision in your skin.
